The manganiyars of Hamira are the most recognised, most accomplished and versatile folk music group at present.The Hamira family of musicians consists of Padam Shri Sakar Khan [1938-2013] who was also awarded with Tulsi award in 1990 by the Madhya Pradesh government and his brother Pempe khan.The two brothers are the most accomplished performers of Khamaycha and Surnai (flute). Their father, Chuhar Khan,was a renowned Khamaycha Musician and the young Sakar started learning Khamaycha from an early age under the tutelage of his father to earn a name for himself later.

Sakar khan who passed away on August 10,2013 had fared well in passing on his musical tradition to his sons who accompanied him at his various performances.Four of his sons – Ghevar Khan (Khamaicha player), Feroze Khan (Dholak player) and Dara khan (Khamaicha player) and Sataar Khan (Dholak) are keeping the family tradition alive by mesmerizing the audience with their music.The two sons of Pempe Khan namely Khete Khan (Khartal player)and Shuga Khan (Algoza player and singer)are equally accomplished musicians in their own right.

Together they form a unique and authentic group which is winning worldwide fame with their musical talent at the national and international festivals like festival of India, Moscow (1987), Festival of India, Amsterdan, Holland (2010), tours organized by ICCR, Harvallabh, Saptak, RIFF and many others.
